Anthony “The Man” Mundine is out of retirement and will step into the ring on Saturday night in a bout against Aussie kickboxer John Wayne Parr.
Mundine, 44, announced his intentions to hang up the gloves following a first round knockout loss at the hands of Jeff Horn exactly one year ago.
But he wasn’t ready for his career to end on that note and decided he’d come back and will take on the 43-year-old Parr.
Holding a 48-9 record in his boxing career, Mundine will enter as the warm favourite against his opponent who made his name in kickboxing.
Parr hasn’t fought since 2003, but does hold a 10-3 boxing record.

The bout between to the two men north of 40 has been slammed by Australian boxing legend Jeff Fenech who labelled it “embarrassing”.
“It’s two old guys,” Fenech told Sporting News.
“John Wayne Parr’s been beaten by Nader (Hamdan), Ian McLeod beat him with one hand — he had a broken hand — Sakio Bika beat him.
“He’s great at what he does. He’s an amazing fighter and a top guy.
“No disrespect to either of them — I’m not sure how John Wayne Parr’s going to go in the fight — but if he has a go and lands a punch on Anthony, the fight’s over.
“Anthony’s days are well and truly behind him, and to be honest, I think it’s embarrassing to the sport of boxing.
“I think it’s embarrassing.”
Another loss would give Mundine a 2-5 record over his past five fights, dating back to September 2014.
If he falls to Parr in Brisbane, the curtain should fall for good on ‘The Man’s’ career.
